However, it is essential to clarify to the HR manager that the matter is confidential and not discuss it with anybody in the organisation. That helps gather essential tips which help make the resignation process smooth and easy for the employee.

Sometimes, the employee can directly visit the employer regarding the immediate resignation from the company. Provide the reasons for resignation honestly and professionally to the employer. Make them convinced that leaving the job immediately is their only option in the given situation, and they will complete all the pending tasks assigned before leaving the company.

This will help the employee immediately resign from the old company without any significant issues.

5. Steps for writing an immediate resignation letter

After deciding to quit the current job, the employee's next step is to give the employer a written resignation letter. The resignation letter should contain the reasons for resignation and the date you are resigning from the company. Some other essential suggestions which can help in writing a high-quality, immediate resignation letter are:

  • Provide contact information: It is compulsory to mention the name and the employee's contact information at the top of the resignation letter above the date. The employee can also provide their email address and mobile number in the contact information. This helps the employer to contact the employee in the future if needed.
  • Mentioning the resigning date: As the employee is resigning immediately, it is essential to mention the exact date. Moreover, it should include brief information regarding reasons for resigning and not mention the full explanation.  For instance, if the reason for resignation is a health issue, it is enough to mention only health reasons in the letter. It is essential to value the employer's time by providing short and septic information unless there is an explanation.
  • Use a polite tone: It is always advisable to be polite when leaving the job due to unfriendly employer behaviour or job-related issues. It is vital to maintain a polite tone when writing a resignation letter. The employer may require a previous employer's reference letter or professional connection. Leaving the company on good terms is very helpful in keeping a door open for future interactions.
  • Mention your concerns: The employee can provide all the critical concerns related to leaving the job in the resignation letter. For example, the employee can ask for the tentative time for receiving the last payment from the company.
  • Saying thank you to the employer: The immediate resignation letter should end with a thank you to the employer for providing a work opportunity in the company.  It also includes apologising to the employer for resigning the job immediately.  Also, if the employer does not find the job exciting, mentioning at least one to two positive aspects is crucial. It is considered very important to thank you, the employer.
  • Proofreading the letter: A grammatically correct and professional resignation letter is essential to create a positive impression in the employer's mind. Proofreading is essential as it helps identify spelling and grammatical mistakes before the final submission to the employer.
